I recently lost about 45 pounds and am trying to lose the last 10… I was working out at a gym but can not anymore. Bought an exercise bike and this is what I am doing everyday to get started.. I pedal for 45 minutes equaling 13 miles, 280 calories and 90 fat calories. Of course plus eating right? Oh and I have added some hand weights. Is this sufficent to help.. or do you think I am just wasting my time with such a small workout? Thanks.

Stationary exercise bike recommendations?

Modern Nature asked:

I’m planning on asking for a stationary exercise bike for Christmas, but looking around trying to pick one out has proved to be a lot harder than I expected it to! I’m most interested in a Recumbent or Semi-Recumbent Bike – my family has a long history of back problems, and I’ve heard those types provide the most support. I’ve noticed most stationary bikes support weight up to 250 lbs, but one that could support up to 300 would really be preferable. I have a budget of $500-550.

I’d love to hear your suggestions! Thanks in advance.

Am I still helping my body and losing weight? Should I continue to do it? I usually sweat pretty easily, but not on this bike. Then again, it’s in my basement so it is a little colder.

Is it worth using an exercise bike if I don’t sweat or feel tired after using it? Thanks.
I’m not in bad shape, but it’s not like I’m some awesome, in-shape athlete. I may just be good at biking, I don’t know.

JustAGirl1243 asked:

I am trying to accurately log my calories.

What is the approximate MPH on a stationary exercise bike to be considered ‘moderate’? What about ‘vigorous’?

I am 218 lbs, 5′8. When I put that into the livestrong website i get ‘1,038 calories burned per hour.’ at a vigorous speed.

I typically only bike 5 miles at a time, getting done in 17 minutes. Is this moderate or vigorous?

I’m trying to heal my right knee from patella tendinitis and I wanna exercise and do some cardio to stay in shape. If I use a stationary bike and do walking, will my knee still be alright? I ice my knee twice a day. If I should be doing something else please tell me. I’ve already been to a doctor. Thanks!

What’s better the elliptical exercise machine or a stationary bike?

XOXO asked:

Hubby and I are having a disagreement on whether to purchase a elliptical machine or a stationary bike for the family. Mainly due to the fact that we allowed our son to gain to much weight for his age. Anyway, I think for the best overall cardio workout an elliptical machine would be a better choice for the entire family. My son sits down all day at school so why would I want him to exercise sitting down. What do you think?

I’m about to have another knee surgery and I know that using exercise bikes are very good for rebuilding the knee, but I’m low on dough. I was wondering if I could somehow take apart an old bike I have and use it? Would you recommend this? If so, what do I do to make it?
K then. Somebody asked the question a few ?’s back so I already have my answer, but I leave my question up so I can give someone a best answer.
